Helen Venderly

Helen Venderly, 91, of Fountainview Nursing Home, Mishawaka, IN, formerly of State Rd. 23, South Bend, IN, passed away on Tuesday Feb. 06, 2001, in the nursing home. Mrs. Venderly was born in Rhoda, VA, on Dec. 8, 1909, to the late Albert and Kathryn (Lenhardt) Bodnar, and lived here locally all of her life. She retired from South Bend Lathe after 33 years of service.

 

Helen married Stanley Klaybor, Sr., who preceded her in death. She then married Wheeler (Bud) J. Venderly on Nov. 22, 1952, in South Bend, who also preceded her in death on Feb. 5, 1976. Mrs. Venderly is survived by one son, Stanley "Jerry" (Mary Jane) Klaybor of South Bend; one stepdaughter, Linda Venderly and one stepson, Jack Venderly, both of Apopka, FL.; four grandchildren, Kathryn Lentych, Jeff (Kathi) Klaybor, and Kelly Klaybor, all of South Bend, and Dan (Beth) Klaybor of Syracuse, IN; six great-grandchildren, Michael and Ashleigh Lentych, Karly and Ben Klaybor, and Jacob and Mary Katherine Klaybor; two nieces, and one nephew. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Velma Farkas, and Yolan VanSlager; and two brothers, Albert and William Bodnar.

 

Helen was a member of the Memorial Presbyterian Church of South Bend as well as the Friendship Guild of Memorial Presbyterian Church. She was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, St. Joseph Chapter #569, and the South Bend Turners Club.

 

Visitation will be from 3-8 PM Wednesday, Feb. 7, 2001, in the KANIEWSKI FUNERAL HOME, 3545 N. Bendix Dr., South Bend. Funeral services for Mrs. Venderly will be at 11:30 AM Thursday Feb, 8, 2001, in the Kaniewski Chapel, with Rev. Steven Mullin officiating. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery.
