Sister M. Dolata Vennekamp CSC

SOUTH BEND - Sister M. Dolata (Genevieve Elizabeth Vennekamp) CSC, 91, was born in Chicago, IL, to the late John Vennekamp and Emma Schroeder Vennekamp. She was predeceased by her brother, Thomas Vennekamp. Sister is survived by many friends. Before entering the Congregation of the Sisters of Holy Cross in 1937, Sister studied at St. Philomena Commercial, Chicago, IL, and worked as a secretary and bookkeeper. After entering, Sister continued her education at Saint Mary's college, Notre Dame, IN, earning a Bachelor's degree in chemistry. She attended Marquette University, Milwaukee, WI, earning a Master's degree in chemistry and education.

 

Sister Dolata taught in elementary and high schools in Illinois and Indiana for 28 years and was a professor for four years at Saint Mary's College, Notre Dame, and spent a year teaching at Saint Mary of the Wasatch, Salt Lake City, UT. She moved to Parish Ministry in 1978 at St. Mary's Parish, Woodstock, IL, until she retired, in 1997, to Saint Mary's Convent, Notre Dame. Sister was active in service to the community until her death.

 

Memorial contributions may be made to the Sisters of the Holy Cross Ministry with the Poor Fund, Saint Mary's Notre Dame, IN 46556. Reception and Wake Service will be at 4 p.m. Sunday, May 13, in Church of Our Lady of Loretto, Saint Mary's Notre Dame. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, May 14, in Church of Our Lady of Loretto. Kaniewski Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
