Charles E. Verhostra

Charles E. "Chuck" Verhostra, 87, of Granger, Ind., passed away at 4 a.m. Wednesday, June 19, in Memorial Hospital.

 

He was born Nov. 19, 1914, in his home, to the late Reneil and Augusta (Vanlandyut) Verhostra. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Gaston Verhostra.

 

On March 30, 1940, in Mishawaka, Ind., he married the former Alice Schoonaert, who survives. He is also survived by his daughter, Judy (Jim) Grabowski of Bremen, Ind.; two sons, Larry and Ray (Diana) Verhostra of Granger; eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; and by a sister, Martha Benko of Mishawaka.

Mr. Verhostra was a local farmer, and drove a school bus for 42 years as a contract driver for the South Bend Community School Corporation.

 

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, June 21, in the Welsheimer North Funeral Home, 17033 Cleveland Road, where friends may call this evening from 6 to 8 p.m., and from one-half hour prior to services on Friday.
