DEATH CLAIMS A.A.VERLEYE

Resident Here 50 Years Succumbs in Hospital

 

A resident of Mishawaka 50 years, Alfons A Verleye, 73, of 513 W. 10th St., died at noon Monday in St Joseph Hospital.  He had been ill about one month.

 

He was born in Oostkerke, Belgium, and came here from that country.  He married Miss Louise Gouweloose June 22, 1905 in St Bavo’s Catholic Church.

 

Mr. Verleye was a retired Ball-Band worker.  Surviving are his widow; two sons, Theodore and August A Verleye, both of Mishawaka; a daughter, Mrs. Ralph F. Rinehart, of Edwardsburg MI; four grandchildren; four great grandchildren; two brothers, Charles and Gustaaf Verleye and a sister, Mrs. Mathilde Gryp, all of Belgium.

 

Friends may call at the DeVos Chapel until the funeral services at 9am Thursday in St Bavo’s Catholic Church.  Rev Stephen Cvaniga will officiate and burial will be in Fairview Catholic Cemetery.  The rosary will be recited at 7:30pm Wednesday in the church.  Mr. Verleye was a member of the Broederenkring Club.

 

Pallbearers will be Camiel Maertens, Henry Ruyling, Adolf Mervilde, Alin Martens, Camiel Bracke and Alfons Schuddinck.
