Robert D. Vermande, 76, of Pond Street, South Bend, Ind., passed away at 12:01 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 18, in his home. Mr. Vermande was born on Aug. 15, 1923, to the late Robert and Leona Mae (Isabell) Vermande in South Bend.

On. Dec. 11, 1953, he married Patsy Coswell in South Bend. She also preceded him in death on March 7, 1994. He is survived by his sons, Timothy (Sherrie) Vermande of Texas and Terrance (Cheryl) Vermande of Arizona; his daughters, Tanya Vermande of South Bend, Tamara (John) Erickson of Schaumburg, Ill., and Tracey Vermande of South Bend; brothers, William R. Vermande and Thomas D. Vermande, both of Arizona; a sister, A. June (William Paul) Moffett of South Bend; and by two grandchildren, Samantha and Bonnie Vermande. Mr. Vermande graduated from Central High School, class of 1942, and was employed for 29 years with the engineering department of the City of South Bend Water Works.

Friends may visit with the family from 4 to 8 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 21, in the Chapel Hill Funeral Home. Services will be at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 22, in the Northway Church of Christ, with Reverend Ed Erskin officiating. Burial will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola, Ind. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
