Dema Vernasco

June 15, 1893 - May 2, 1986

Dema Vernasco, 92, of 225 W. 8th St., Mishawaka, died at 10:45pm Friday in her home.

She was born on June 15, 1893, in Rio Lunato Modena, Italy, and had lived in the Mishawaka area since 1916.  On January 6, 1913, in Chicago, as Dema Pini she married Victor Vernasco.  He died in 1975.

She is survived by a daughter, Yole Fassero of Mishawaka; two sons, Ted Vernasco of St Joseph MI and Neal Vernasco of Wood Dale IL; five grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and two sisters, Desoilina Mattei of Rio Lunato, Italy and Julia Mattei of San Rio, Italy.

Services will be at 11am Monday in St Bavo's Catholic Church, Mishawaka.  Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9pm today in Hahn's-DeVos Funeral Home, where a rosary will be recited at 7:45pm.  She was a member of the St Bavo's Altar Society and the church.  She retired from the UniRoyal Corp. following 20 years of service.
