Torino Vernasco

January 1, 1910April 22, 1979

 

Torino Vernasco, 69, of 123 Eastgate, died at 5:30am Sunday in St Joseph Hospital after an extended illness.

 

He was born on January 1, 1910, in St Gliogio, Piacenca Province, Italy, and came here from Italy in 1922. He was employed for 46 years at Uniroyal, Inc., retiring in 1972.  On November 23, 1944, in Mishawaka, he married Georgia Smith, who survives with two daughters, Mrs. Jud Sawyer and Mrs. Becky Ditmer; four grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Delphina Minotti and Mrs. Deslina Belli and a brother, Joseph, all of Mishawaka.

 

Vernasco was a WW II veteran and a member of St Bavo’s Church and the DeAmicis Club.

 

Friends may call from 7 to 9pm today and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9pm Tuesday at the W. 8th St., entrance of the Hahn-Peffley-DeVos Funeral Chapel, where arrangements are incomplete.
