William Vervaet

MISHAWAKA - William Vervaet, 74, of 704 w. 11^th Street, died Sunday morning in his home after an illness. He was born June 24, 1906 in Belgium and came from there in 1912. He married Martha Mertens in Mishawaka on Aug 27, 1927, and she died on Dec. 26, 1976. He retired from Studebaker Corporation in 1971 after 42 years of service. Surviving are a son, William Jr. of Mishawaka; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Mrs. W. Emily Vaerewyck and Mrs. Emiel (Madelena) Mostaert, both of Mishawaka, and Mrs. Harry (Simone) Stroobandt of South Bend.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in St. Bavo’s Catholic Church, with burial in Fairview Cemeterty. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in Thallemer-Goethals Funeral Home.
