SOUTH BEND - Rev. Joseph F. Voorde, CSC, 89, of Dhaka, Bangladesh, formerly of South Bend, died Friday in Dhaka.

Rev. Voorde was born Dec. 11, 1904, in South Bend. He made his final vows in the Congregation of Holy Cross on July 2, 1928. He was ordained to the priesthood on June 24, 1933.

He was a lifelong missionary in Bangladesh and served as pastor of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Srimangal, Bangladesh. He is survived by a brother, Albert of South Bend.

Services and burial were in Dhaka. Memorial services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in Moreau Seminary, Notre Dame. Hickey Funeral Home is in charge of local arrangements.
