Anthony Vumbaca

November 7, 1888January 27, 1983

 

Anthony Vumbaca, 94, of 125 Rue Mellarme, died at 6am today in Cardinal Health Care Center, after a lengthy illness.  He & his wife were the original owners of the Sunny Italy Restaurant, selling the restaurant to relatives in 1941.  They operated the Capitol Spaghetti House on N. Michigan after selling the Sunny Italy.

 

He was born November 7, 1888, in Italy and had lived in South Bend since 1913, coming from New York City.  He moved to New York in 1902.  On February 14, 1914, in South Bend, he married Rose Dominello, who survives, along with two nephews, James Papandria of Mishawaka and Rosario Papandria of Tarpon Springs FL.

 

He was a member of ST Anthony de Padua Catholic Church, the Chamber of Commerce, and Woodmen of America from 1913 to 1974.  Arrangements are incomplete at the Hickey Funeral Home.
