James Alfred Wachs

James Alfred Wachs, 65, of Fountainview Place, Mishawaka, died at 8 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 1, in Fountainview after an illness. He was a lifelong area resident having been born in South Bend on Nov. 5, 1930, to Andrew A. and Myrtle M. (Walsdorf) Wachs, who both preceded him in death.

James is survived by three sisters, Doris Musary and Marge Austin, both of Mishawaka and Virginia Nawrocki of South Bend; three brothers, Charles J. Wachs of Lady Lakes, Fla., Thomas D. Wachs of Mishawaka, and John P. Wachs of Osceola; many nieces and nephews; and many great-nieces and great-nephews.

 

A funeral mass will be conducted in St. Monica Church, Mishawaka, at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 4, followed by burial in Fairview Cemetery in Mishawaka. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. today in Thallemer-Goethals Funeral Home where a wake service will take place at 6:15 p.m.

 

James was a member of St. Monica Church, a Korean War Army veteran, a member of American Legion Post 161, and the Disabled American Veterans. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Joseph County Alliance for the Mentally Ill.
