Theresa A. Waelbroeck

November 7, 1919 – February 28, 2005

 

Theresa A. Waelbroeck, 85, of Terre Haute IN, and formerly of South Bend, passed away at 9pm Monday, February 28, in Union Hospital, Terre Haute.  She was homemaker, well-known for her quick wit, her hospitality and her cooking skills.

 

Theresa was born on November 7, 1919, in South Bend, to Peter Szabo Sr. and Theresa Raszipovits Szabo.  Her parents preceded her in death as did five sisters, Elizabeth Horvath, Mary Horvath, Ann Rowland, Julia Lochmandy and Katherine Benzur; and one brother, Peter Szabo Jr.

 

On April 18, 1942, in South Bend, as the former Theresa Szabo, she married Henry J. Waelbroeck, who preceded her in death after sixty years of life together in April 2002.

 

Theresa is survived by a son, Robert H. Waelbroeck, and his wife, Bonita of Terre Haute IN; three grandsons, Robert H. Waelbroeck II and his wife, Laura of Columbus IN, Alan P. Waelbroeck and his wife, Cheryl of Indianapolis, and Neil A. Waelbroeck and his wife, Jennifer of Terre Haute; and one granddaughter, Holly M. Mullenix and her husband, Shane of Terre Haute.  Also surviving are seven great grandchildren, Travis, Kevin and Camille Waelbroeck of Indianapolis, Korissa, Chase and Lily Waelbroeck of Columbus IN, and Evan Mullenix of Terre Haute; and a sister, Helen Dominello of South Bend.

 

Theresa was a member of St. Anthony dePadua Church, South Bend, St. Ann Church, Terre Haute, and the Mishawaka Eagles Ladies Auxiliary.  She was a loving, caring wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend who will truly be missed by all who knew and loved her.

 

Family and friends may visit from 2 to 7pm, with wake prayers at 3pmon Thursday, March 3rd, in Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th Street, Mishawaka.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10am Friday, March 4th, in St. Anthony dePadua Church, South Bend, with Rev. Terry Fisher officiating.  Entombment will follow in Highland Cemetery Mausoleum, South Bend.
