Carl Louis Wagner

Nov. 10, 1914 - March 9, 2001

South Bend Tribune 3/14/2001

Mr. Carl Louis Wagner, 86, beloved husband, father and grandfather, entered eternal rest on Friday, March 9, 2001. He passed away comfortably and peacefully in his home following an extended illness. During World War II he worked for the Pennsylvania Railroad delivering men and supplies where they were needed, and was the youngest promoted engineer on the railroad line. Later he worked for a dairy in Peru, Ind., and then went to work at the Bendix Corporation in South Bend, Ind., as an engineering technician in the Aircraft Brake and Strut Research & Development Department. He retired from Bendix in 1981 after 30-plus years of service. He was a man who lived his life honestly and always true to his beliefs. He was an outstanding husband, father and grandfather. He was a man who always put the needs of his family and fellow men before his own in an age where that quality is hard to find. He will be dearly missed and always loved through the hearts and memories of his family and friends.

He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 42 years, Frances Wagner; and his loving children, James Wagner (Linnea), Ronald Wagner (Mary Jane), Gregory Banicki (Marsha), Lynne Donoho (Mike), Alice Lawson (Douglas) and Carla Wagner. He will also be missed by his loving grandchildren, Scott, Kerry and Eric Donoho, and Marcus Wagner, Michelle Escobar (Fernando), Martin Wagner (Denise), Marla Holbrook (Joseph), Scott Wagner (Beth) and Brad Wagner; and eight great-grandchildren. Also surviving are brothers, David Wagner (Toni), William Wagner (Peggy); and sisters, Georgia Clark, Norma Lucas, Ercil Burress, Helen Cooper (Hobert) and Goldie Lucas; and many loving nieces and nephews.

The viewing will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today, March 14. The funeral will be held on Thursday, March 15, at 11 a.m. in the Welsheimer Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery. It is requested that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Hope Hospice, 9470 Healthpark Circle, Fort Myers, FL 33908.
