Morris Wagner

SOUTH BEND - Services for Morris Wagner, 77, of Haddington Drive, who died at 2:47 a.m. Tuesday in Memorial Hospital, will be at 3 p.m. Thursday in Forest G. Hay Funeral Home, 435 S. Ironwood Drive. Burial will be in the Hebrew Orthodox Cemetery, Mishawaka. There will be no visitation. Memorial contributions may be made to Fund for the Future, Sinai Synagogue.

 

Mr. Wagner was a retired professor in the microbiology department at the University of Notre Dame. He was born Aug. 6, 1917, in Chicago, and lived in this area most of his life. On Aug. 24, 1947, in South Bend, he married Zelma Zonenberg. She died June 19, 1988.

 

On June 19, 1991, in South Bend, he married Lois Alpert. She survives with three daughters, Nana W. Fromm of South Bend, Judy W. Schultz of Granger and Sheri Alpert of Alexandria, Va.; three sons, Robert D. Wagner of Seattle, Joel I. Wagner of Denver, and Stephen Alpert of Alexandria, and eight grandchildren. He was a member of Sinai Synagogue. He received his bachelor's degree from Cornell University, Ithaca, N.Y., his master's from Notre Dame and his doctorate from Purdue University.
