Roman Walkowiak

August 19, 1915November 9, 1983

 

Roman Walkowiak, 68, of 1340 Brentwood Ct., died in the emergency room at St Joseph’s Medical Center at 5:45pm Wednesday after suffering an apparent heart attack.  He retired in 1979 as the building engineer for the Cityof south Bend Municipal Services Building.  He also was the former owner of the Frosted Glass Bar and the Olive Food market.

 

Born on August 19, 1915, in South Bend, he lived here all of his life.  On May 22, 1935, in South Bend, he married the former Frances Zielinski.  She survives with two daughters, Mrs. Melvin (Lois) Lesniewicz and Mrs. Stephen (Constance) Hardy, both of South Bend; a son, Ralph Walkowiak of Glenview IL; 11 grandchildren and a sister, Mrs. Charles (Angeline) Mooney of South Bend.

 

Friends may call form 7 to9pm today and from 1 to 9pm Friday in the Kaniewski& Sons Funeral Home.  He was a veteran of WW II, a member of St Stanislaus Catholic Church, Polish National Alliance Nest 83 and the Michiana Travel Club.

FUNERAL NOTES

Services for Roman Walkowiak, 68, of 1340 Brentwood Court, who died unexpectedly Wednesday in the emergency room at St Joseph’s Medical Center, will be at 10am Saturday in St Stanislaus Catholic Church.  Rev. Casimir Grabarz, CSC, will officiate.  Entombment will be in Resurrection Gardens in St Joseph Cemetery.

 

Friends are calling until 9pm today in the Kaniewski & Sons Funeral Home, where a parish rosary will be recited at 7pm.  Walkowiak retired in 1979 as the building engineer for the City of South Bend Municipal Services Building.
