Sister Henrietta Walkowiak, CSC

October 26, 1906 – January 27, 1983

Sister Henrietta Walkowiak, CSC, 76 of Our Lady of Holy Cross Convent, 3600 S Miami St., died at 2:45 am today at St Joseph’s Medical Center. 

She was born Catherine Clare Walkowiak on October 26, 1906, in South Bend and entered the Congregation of the Sisters of Holy Cross at Saint Mary’s College on January 17, 1927.  She was received as a novice on August 15, 1927, and made first profession of vows years later.  Sister Walkowiak taught elementary students at St Hedwig’s, St Joseph’s and Holy Cross Schools in South Bend.  She also served in Elkhart, Michigan City, Gary & Crawfordsville IN and at Danville & Peoria IL.  She is survived by a brother, John Walkowiak, of South Bend

Services will be conducted at 10am Saturday in Our Lady of Loretto Church on Saint Mary’s Campus.  Burial will be in Our Lady of Peace Cemetery there.  Friends may call until the time of services at Saint Mary’s Convent Parlors, where a wake service will be held at 7pm Friday/
