Michael J. Wallisch, 85, og 520 Euclid Ave., died at 3:15 a.m. Sunday in St. Joseph's Hospital after an illness of two weeks. He retired from the Singer Co. in 1953 after 42 years. He was born Feb 1, 1888 in Austria, coming to South Bend as an infant and living here the rest of his life. In 1908, in Niles, Mich., he married Mary Wallisch who died in 1920. Surviving are two sons, George and Albert, and two daughters, Mrs. Henry Wartha and Mrs. Hildrgarde Cox, all of South Bend; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two brothers, Paul and Joseph Wallisch, both of South Bend; and a sister, Mrs. Katherine Kandlsdorfer of Dowagiac.

Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. today and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p .m. Tuesday in the Welsheimer Funeral Home. Services will be conducted at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday in Holy Cross Catholic Church, Rev. William Neidhart, C.S.C., pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery.  Mr . Wallisch was a member of Holy Cross Church and the Fraternal Order of Eagles. A rosary will be recited in the funeral home at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.

 

Note:  Michael J. Wallisch married another person with the same surname, Mary Wallisch.
