Sister M. Agnes E. Walshe CSC

SOUTH BEND - Sister M. Agnes Eileen (Eileen J. Walshe), CSC, 92, was born in Washington, D.C., to the late Patrick Joseph Walshe and Lillian Johnson Walshe. She was predeceased by her sisters, both members of the Sisters of the Holy Cross, Sister M. Lillian Therese and Sister M. Francis. Sister is survived by her niece, Maryann Spreckelmyer, MD, and nephew, Frank Ruppert, VA, and David Ruppert, MD.

Sister received her education at schools in Washington D.C., St. Cecilia's Academy, Dunbarton College and Catholic University, receiving a master's in fine arts. Sister was trained to be a teacher and taught elementary schools in Washington, D.C., Rockville and Kensington, MD, Austin TX, St. Mary of the Wasatch College, UT, and Brookline, MA. Sister then did parish ministry in Washington, D.C., and at Holy Cross Hospital and Christ the King Parish, Silver Spring, MD. She retired in 2001 at St. Angela's Hall, Kensington, MD. As her health began requiring more attention, Sister came to Saint Mary's Convent where she remained in the Ministry of Prayer until her death.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Sisters of the Holy Cross Ministry with the Poor Fund, Saint Mary's, Notre Dame, IN 46556. Reception of the body was at 4 p.m. Monday, Jan. 8, in Church of Our Lady of Loretto, Saint Mary's, Notre Dame. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. today, Jan. 9, in Church of Our Lady of Loretto, Saint Mary's, Notre Dame. The Kaniewski Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
