Sister Mary Verona CSC of the Sisters of Holy Cross, died Thursday at Saint Mary’s Convent. Born Bertilde Walsh in Albert Lea, Minn. in 1887, she received her early education there. She received the habit in 1920 and her profession of vows in 1922. She held a B. A. degree from St. Mary’s College and received her M. A. degree from the University of Notre Dame. During her community life she was superior and principal at St. Mary’s School in Anderson, Ind. from 1931 to 1947. She also taught in Danville, Ill. and Hammond, Ind. and was assigned to St. Joseph High School in South Bend in 1959.

 

Services will be at 7 a.m. Saturday in the Church of Our Lady of Loretto on St. Mary’s campus, and burial will be there in Our Lady of Peace Cemetery. Friends may call until 8 p.m. today at the convent parlor.
