Nina L. Walters

SOUTH BEND - Nina L. Walters, 98, of River Park, passed
away on Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2007, in St. Paul's Healthcare, South
Bend. She was born on Aug. 24, 1909, in Carroll County, IN, to
Charles and Nellie (Shanks) Thomas, and had resided
here since 1937, coming from Carroll County, IN.
On December 30, 1926, in Delphi, IN, she
married Joe Patterson. Then on June 24, 1944, in South
Bend, IN, she married Leroy Walters, who preceded her in death in
1985. Mrs. Walters is survived by her three daughters, Norma DiGirolamo
of Mishawaka, Carol Schaffer and Linda (Earl
"Bud") McCune, all of South Bend; her son,
Thomas Patterson of South Bend; 13 grandchildren and numerous
great- and great-great-grandchildren. Her grandson, Daniel Webber,
and her sister, Mildred Nance, preceded her in death. Mrs.
Walters liked to sew for her family. She enjoyed ceramic classes.
In her younger years she was active in the Church of the
Brethren.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM
Friday, December 7, 2007, in the Palmer Funeral Home-River Park,
2528 Mishawaka Ave., South Bend. Burial will follow at St. Joseph
Valley Memorial Park, Granger, IN. Friends may visit with the
family one hour prior to services in the funeral home on Friday.
