Velma Catherine Walter, 96, of Hamilton Grove, New Carlisle, formerly of the Mar-Main Apartments, South Bend, died at 5:55 a.m. Sunday in Hamilton Grove. Mrs Walter was the former manager of the Union Bus Station in South Bend and Palmer Hardware Store in Elkhart. She was born June 17, 1900, in Bremen and had lived in South Bend since 1925, coming from Bremen.

On Nov. 6, 1926, in Bremen, as Velma C. Dunnuck, she married Earl Walter who died July 20, 1952. Mrs. Walter was a member of Messiah Shrine 10, White Shrine of Jerusalem, Order of Eastern Star Chapter 2, South Bend Shrine Club Auxiliary, and Evangel Heights United Methodist Church.

Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. Tuesday in the Welsheimer Funeral Home, 521 N. Willliam St., South Bend. Burial will follow at Bremen Cemetery in Bremen, Ind. on Wednesday.
