Lawrence J. Waltz

Mishawaka – Lawrence J. Waltz, 44, of 303 E. 9th Street, collapsed and died on the sidewalk in the 100 block of E. 9th Street at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday. Attempts to revive him at St. Joseph Hospital were futile. Police said he died as a result of a heart attack.

Mr. Waltz was born in Portland IN and moved here 25 years ago. He married Miss Nordina Nicolini, Nov. 16, 1935. He was employed in the fuel cell division of the Ball-Band plant.

Surviving are his widow; two sons, Donald J. and Robert L. Waltz at home; two daughters. Mrs. John LaFree, of South Bend, and Miss Christine Waltz, at home; one grandchild and one brother Philip Waltz of Elkhart.

Funeral services will take place at 9 a.m. Friday in St. Bavo’s Catholic Church. Rev. Otto J. Keller, pastor will officiate and burial will be in Fairview Catholic Cemetery. Friend may call at the DeVos Chapel this evening and until the hour of the services. The rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. Thursday in the chapel.
