Bessie Walz

Bessie (Winenger) Walz, 100, of Venice, Fla., formerly of Tasher Street, South Bend, Ind., was born in Plymouth, Ind. She was married to Cecil Walz, June 5, 1920. He preceded her in death June 7, 1987.

 

She moved to Venice in 1997 to be near her twin daughters, Mary Gagen and Betty Miller. Also surviving are granddaughter, Beverly (Cliff) Erickson and a grandson, Robert Miller, all of Venice; a great-granddaughter, Paula (Mike), and two great-great-grandsons, Christopher and Jacob, all of Minot, N.D.

 

She will always be cherished in the heart and loving memory of her adopted granddaughter, Ida Parker of South Bend. Bessie Walz was the oldest living member of Grace United Methodist Church of South Bend, and attended Central High School.

 

Family and friends may call at the FOREST G. HAY FUNERAL HOME, located at Ironwood and Jefferson at 12 p.m. Monday, Oct. 1. Services will be in the funeral home at 1 p.m. Monday. Rev. Hosea Drake, pastor of her church, will officiate. Entombment will follow at Highland Cemetery.

 

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of St. Joseph County or to the Grace United Methodist Church.
