Frank Wantuch Jr., 69, of Grace Street, South Bend, Ind., died at 12:40 p.m. Friday, April 26, in Memorial Hospital. He was born Jan. 3, 1933, in South Bend, and was the son of Frank and Joanna (Winkiewicz) Wantuch Sr. He was preceded in death by his father, Frank Wantuch Sr.; his wife, Rose Perry, who died on March 29, 1992; and by a brother, Daniel Wantuch.

 

He is survived by his mother, Joanna (Winkiewicz) Wantuch Sr.; three daughters, Rosemarie (Joseph) Laskowski, Carol (Kenneth) Smith and Christine (Michael) Kruis, all of South Bend; four sons, Don (June) Wantuch of Mishawaka, Ind., Dennis (Jan) Wantuch of Osceola, Ind., Joseph (Tina) Wantuch and John (Sandra) Wantuch, both of South Bend; 14 grandchildren, Liz (Scott) Baker, Amanda Wantuch, Katie Wantuch, Brandon, Amy and Scott Laskowski, Kelly Evanhoff, Sara, Joshua and John Wantuch, Jessie, Jenny and Eric Kruis, and Corey Smith; one sister, Mary Jo (Don) Findley of South Bend; and by a sister-in-law, Carolyn Wantuch of South Bend.

 

Frank was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and Korean War. Frank was a musician for 40-plus years and performed around the area with such bands as "Stardusters" and the "One-Two-Trio." He also was a member of the South Bend/Mishawaka Pigeon Club.

 

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Foundation. Family and friends may call from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, April 29, in the ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Road. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 30, in St. Joseph Funeral Home, with burial to follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.
