Joanna Wantuch

Joanna "Jenny" Wantuch, 96, formerly of South Brookfield Street, South Bend, passed away on Wednesday, April 19, 2006, in her home. Jenny was born on June 14, 1909, in Yonkers, NY, to Joseph and Konegunda (Zakrzweska) Winkiewicz, who have both preceded her. Also preceding her in death were two sons, Daniel Wantuch on November 10, 1964, and Frank Wantuch Jr. on April, 26, 2002; a daughter-in-law, Rose Wantuch on March 29, 1992; a sister, Gladys Kuhar; and three brothers, Al Williams, Clem Winkiewicz and Joseph Winkiewicz.

 

On May 15, 1928, she married Frank Wantuch Sr. in South Bend, who preceded her in death on November 29, 1969. Surviving Jenny are a daughter, Mary Jo (Don) Findley of South Bend; a daughter-in-law, Carolyn Wantuch of South Bend; four sisters, Helen (Frank) Spromberg of South Bend, Ann (Walter) Marut of Cheshire, CT, Alice Imbrogro of Charleston, W.Va., and Rita (Roy) Bauwens of Mishawaka; 17 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.

 

Visitation will be on Monday, April 24, 2006, from 2 to 8 p.m. in ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 MAYFLOWER ROAD, SOUTH BEND, where a Rosary will be prayed at 4 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, April 25, 2006, at 10 a.m. in Saint Adalbert Catholic Church. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, South Bend. Memorial contributions may be made to the Center for Hospice and Palliative Care, 111 Sunnybrook Court, South Bend, IN 46637; or to Saint Adalbert Catholic Church.
