SOUTH BEND - Don Neal Ward, 48, of Wabash, Ind., formerly of South Bend, died at 2:40 a.m. Monday in Wabash County Hospital. Mr. Ward was born Jan. 17, 1946, in Bedford, Va.
On Nov. 15, 1980, he married Judith Anne (Cobley) Norris. She survives, with a daughter, Amy Ward of Plymouth; a son, Thadd of Wabash; a stepson, Ed Norris of Wabash; his mother, Beatrice Ward of Grovertown; and a brother, Orvle of South Bend.
He was a former music director in the South Bend schools before moving to Wabash. He received his bachelor's and master's degrees from Ball State University. He was a member of Indiana State Teachers Association, National Education Association, Indiana Music Educators Association, Indiana Elementary Music Educators Association, Music Educators National Conference, Association of Disciples Musicians and Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Manchester Ave. Chapel Grandstaff-Hentgen. Burial will be in the Falls Cemetery, Wabash. Friends may call from 4 to 9 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home.
