George K. Ward

GRANGER - Memorial services for George K. Ward, 78, of 10072 Briargate Court, who died at 5:23 p.m. Saturday in his home, will be at 11 a.m. May 11 in the Logan Chapel on the campus of the University of Notre Dame. McGann Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to Notre Dame or Hospice of St. Joseph County Inc.

 

Mr. Ward retired in 1995 as a self-employed certified public accountant after 55 years of service. He was born June 16, 1917, in Chicago and lived in Granger for three months.

 

In 1940, in South Bend, he married Alice M. Panknin. She died in 1991. He is survived by three daughters, Maryann R. Ward of Greendale, Wis., Kathryn Ward-Costa of Granger, and Ashley M. Schwartz of Lake Leelanau, Mich.; two sons, George H. of Littleton, Colo., and Nicholas E. II of Houston; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two sisters, Eleanor Richardson of Suttons Bay, Mich., and Marilyn Vallez of Shakopee, Minn.; and a brother, Wilson B. of Essexville, Mich. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Bay City, Mich., Michigan Association of CPAs, and Notre Dame Alumni Association.
