Jewell J. Ward

Jewell ''J.J.'' Ward, 78, of Waco, Texas, died on Wednesday, July 15, at his residence among his loved ones.

Services were July 18 at Heritage Memorial Funeral Home, and burial was at Waco Memorial Park.

Mr. Ward was born on March 3, 1920, in Sturkie, Ark.

He married Myrtle Alma Risner on Oct. 17, 1941, in Mammoth Springs, Ark.

He resided in South Bend, Ind., from 1941 to 1970 where he worked for the Coca-Cola Company. He and his family moved to Waco, Texas, in 1970 where he became co-owner of various Texaco stations in the Waco area. In 1974 he became owner of Don's Quick Stop in Beverly Hills, Texas.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Dave and Belle Ward; and by a sister, Freda Fay Ward.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Myrtle Ward; four children, Don Ward and his wife Nel of China Springs, Texas, Barbara Bower and husband Herm of South Bend, Sharon Wooldridge and husband Jerry of Waco, and Annette and husband David of Hewitt, Texas; a sister, Virginia Proffitt of Waco; and by eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

He was loved and will be greatly missed by all of his loved ones and many friends.

Memorials were made to Community Hospice of Waco, Texas.
