THE ELKHART TRUTH - ELKHART, INDIANA   ELKHART -- Richard C. Ward, 69, of 1227 Davis St., died at 12:20 p.m. Wednesday (Aug. 15, 2007) in Memorial Hospital, South Bend.   He was born May 21, 1938, in South Bend to Robert E. and Stella E. (Carr) Ward. He married Louise (Madden) James on Jan. 5, 2002, in Elkhart.   She survives along with two daughters, Melissa Higdon of Edgewater, Fla. and Christine Morris of St. Augustine Beach, Fla.; one son, Michael Ward of Daytona Beach, Fla.; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and two brothers, Roger Ward of South Bend and James Ward of West Cliff, Colo.   He was preceded in death by one sister, Roberta.   There will be no visitation or services. Cremation will take place. Elkhart Cremation Services, 2100 W. Franklin St., Elkhart, is in charge of arrangements.   Mr. Ward was employed from 1973 to 1978 by Champion Door Corp., Warsaw, as a vice president and general sales manager. He most recently was employed as a telephone sales representative for Quest Corp., Elkhart.   He was a U.S. Air Force veteran and a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church. He was active in the Boy Scouts of America and was a 4-H horse and pony leader at the Marshall County 4-H Fair. He was a former 4-H board member and a member of the Argos Chamber of Commerce.   Memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society.
