South Bend-Mary (Duff) Warner, 96, of St. Paul’s Retirement Community, died there Thursday of Natural causes. Memorial services will be at 3 p.m. Monday in St. Paul’s Retirement Community. There will be no visitation. Welsheimer Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

Mary Duff Warner, 96, of St. Paul's Retirement Community, South Bend, Ind., died at 7:12 a.m. on Thursday in St. Paul's following an illness. Mrs. Warner was born on Aug. 16, 1903, in Hammond, Ind., to Alvey Borton and Elizabeth (Gesey) Duff and had lived in South Bend, for 11 years coming from Hammond. On April 22, 1939, in Hammond, as Mary Duff, she married Fred A. Warner, who preceded her in death on March 31, 1958. She is survived by two nephews, Charles (Darlene) Duff of Albuquerque, N.M. and James (Caroline) Duff of Grosse Pointe, Mich.; and a special friend, Mary Ann (James) Carr of South Bend. Mrs. Warner had been employed as a bookkeeper and secretary at Belamy and Gage in Hammond. She was a member of Nu chapter of Delta Sigma Kappa sorority and an avid Notre Dame fan.

 

Memorial services will be held at 3 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 18, in St. Paul's Retirement Community, 3602 S. Ironwood Dr., South Bend, with Rev. Timothy O'Connor C.S.C., chaplain of St. Paul's officiating. There will be no visitation. Cremation will take place in the Michiana Crematory, with burial at Elmwood Cemetery, Hammond, at a later date. The Welsheimer Funeral Home, 521 N. William St., South Bend, is handling arrangements.
