July 18, 1896 OBITUARY:  EMILY WASHBURN

The funeral of the late Mrs. Emily Washburn was held at the Osceola M. E. church Thursday afternoon at 3’oclock.  

Emily Cleveland was born in Pyke, Wyoming county, New York, May 2, 1823. When she was 12 years of age her parents moved to Erie county, PA.  In 1844 she was married at that place to Mr. Alfred Washburn, living there until 1851 when they removed, to Elkhart county, Ind. In 1866 they moved to St. Joseph county and have since resided on the old homestead.  In 1870 Mrs. Washburn became a member of the Osceola M. E. church and has lived a consistent Christian life.  Mrs. Washburn being an old settler and of a very cheerful and kindly disposition, with the kind regard and love of numerous acquaintances.  She leaves one son,  Mr. C. M. Washburn, with whom she resided at the time of her death.
