Sister M. Lucille Weber CSC, 84, of St. Mary’s Convent, died early this morning in the convent. She was born April 1, 1900 in Union City, Ind. as Ruth Alberta Weber, and entered the Congregation of the Sisters of the Holy Cross at St. Mary’s on June 29, 1920. She was received as a novice on Jan. 6, 1921 and made her profession of vows on Aug. 15, 1923. She was a music teacher and served in schools conducted by the sisters of Holy Cross, serving at St. Joseph School in South Bend from 1932 to 1938. She also taught in Logansport, Elkhart and Anderson in Indiana; and in Chicago, Woodstock, Ill. and Flint, Mish. before being assigned as assistant to the Provincial Superior of the Midwest Province. Then in 1963 she was appointed Religious Superior at Our Lady of Holy Cross Convent in South Bend, where she remained until 1969. She has resided at St. Mary’s Convent since 1969.

 

Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m.Friday in Our Lady of Loretto Church, with burial in Our Lady of Peace Cemetery on the campus. Friends may call today and Thursday at the convent parlors, where a wake service will be at 7 p.m. Thursday.
