Maclyn M. Weesner

Maclyn M. Weesner, 76, of South Bend, died at 9:59 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 16, in Memorial Hospital after an illness. He was born on Dec. 19, 1919 in Marion, Ind., and had lived most of his life in South Bend.

 

On Feb. 11, 1945, in South Bend, Maclyn married Mary E. Baker who survives along with two daughters, Gloria J. Szczepanski and Pam K. Weesner, both of South Bend; a son, Gary (Christa) Weesner of Osceola; six sisters, Jeanne Spagnola of Bradington, Fla., Alma Turner of Houston, Texas, Marg Chearhart of South Bend, Ind., Norean Webb of Mishawaka, Ind., Shirley Lannoo of Mishawaka, Ind., and Nancy L. Green of Osceola; four brothers, Hilton Weesner of South Bend, Ind., Dwight Weesner of LasVegas, Nev., Keith Weesner of Birch Lake, Mich., and Larry Weesner of South Bend, Ind.; six grandchildren and two great-granddaughters. Two sisters, Joyce Ruch and Lucy Harder preceded him in death as well as three brothers, Merrill Weesner, Denny Weesner and Russell ''Buster'' Weesner.

 

Mr. Weesner had served in the Army during World War II and had attained the rank of Corporal. While in the service he received four Bronze Stars, a Good Conduct Ribbon and the EAME Theater Ribbon. Locally he was a member of the American Legion Post 303 and St. Peter's United Church of Christ, South Bend. Maclyn retired in 1981 from Sibley Machine and Foundry as an electrician.

 

Friends may call at the Forest G. Hay Funeral Home, 1201 S. Michigan St., South Bend, on Wednesday, Nov. 20, from 4 to 8 p.m. Services will be in the funeral home on Thursday, Nov. 21, at 11 a.m., with Rev. James Iliff, pastor of St. Peter's United Church of Christ. Burial will be in Southlawn Cemetery, South Bend, where American Legion Post 303 will conduct military graveside service.
