Richard J. Weikel, 47, of Weber Street, South Bend, Ind., passed away on Thursday, Dec. 25, in St. Joseph Regional Medical Center. He was born on July 6, 1951, in South Bend, and was a lifelong resident.

On Dec. 22, 1978, he married Theresa Salzman, who survives. He is also survived by his four children, Amanda, Emily, Paul and Sean, all at home; and by his mother, Geraldine Weikel of South Bend.

A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. on Tuesday in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, South Bend. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Center for the Homeless, 813 S. Michigan Street, South Bend, IN 46601, or to the Logan Center, 1235 N. Eddy Street, South Bend, IN 46617.
