SOUTH BEND – Major Kelly F. Weinberg, 34, of Clarksville TN, formerly of South Bend IN, died Thursday, December 20, 2007, in his residence.

 

He was born August 3, 1973, in South Bend, son of Kevin K Weinberg and Janice L. (Jankowski) Weinberg.  His mother preceded him in death on April 11, 2007.  Kelly served with the US Army where he obtained the rank of major.  He was a part of the 1000 Military Police Battalions.  He was awarded several service awards including: the Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal and the Army Service Ribbon.

 

He was married to Bridget (Gardner), who survives.  Along with his wife, he is survived by his father, Kevin K. Weinberg of South Bend; a stepdaughter, Samantha Ward of Clarksville TN; two brothers, James K. Weinberg of South Bend, and Thomas K. Weinberg of Niles MI; and two sisters, Laura K. Latson and Karen L. Fussey, both of South Bend.

 

Kelly graduated from St Joseph High School in 1991.  He lettered in two varsity sports, football and baseball, and always played like a champion.  He had a bachelor of criminal justice degree and was a member of the Immaculate Conception Parish in Clarksville TN.

 

Visitation will be from 2 to 8pm Thursday, December 27, 2007, in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, South Bend.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00am Friday, December 28, 2007, in Corpus Christi Catholic Church, South Bend with full military honors.

 

Visitation will then take place from 4 to 8pm Friday, January 4, 2008, in Berceuse Funeral Home, Hampt9n VA.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00am Saturday, January 5, 2008, in St Mary’s Catholic Church, Ft Monroe VA.  Cremation will follow.  A memorial service will be held in Clarksville TN, at a later date.
