Robert Charles Weisweaver

Robert C. Weisweaver, 47, of Osceola, executive vice president of the Elkhart Brass Manufacturing Co., Elkhart, was dead on arrival at Martin Memorial Hospital, Stuart Fla., about noon Tuesday, after becoming suddenly ill while playing golf.

 

Weisweaver, who lived at 57989 Beech Rd., was vacationing in Florida.  He had been with Elkhart Brass for 15 years.

 

He was born March 6, 1927, in Mishawaka, and had been a lifetime resident of this area.  On Oct. 6, 1946 in Mishawaka, he married Kathryn Sheets, who survives.

 

Also surviving are two sons, Craig of Osceola, and Mark of Mishawaka; a daughter, Kelly Weisweaver at home; two grandchildren; his mother, Mrs. Howard Scanlon of Mishawaka, and two sisters, Mrs. Carl (Norma) Deardorff of Mishawaka, and Mrs. Donald (Marjorie) Wagner of Jensen Beach, Fla.

 

Weisweaver was on the board of directors of the Grace Children’s Hospital in Haiti; was a member of Osceola United Methodist Church, Lodge 742, Free and Accepted Masons of Osceola; the Elcona Country Club of Elkhart, and the Four Lakes Country Club, Adamsville, Mich.  He was a veteran of World War II with the U.S. Navy.

 

Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday and from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. Friday in the Warner Funeral Home, Osceola, where arrangements are being made.  The family asks that memorials be made to the Osceola United Methodist Church or the Grace Children’s Hospital in Haiti.

Services for Robert C. Weisweaver, 47, of 57989 Beech, Osceola, executive vice president of Elkhart Brass Manufacturing Co., Elkhart, will be at 1 p.m. Saturday in the Osceola United Methodist Church. 

 

He was dead on arrival at Martin Memorial Hospital, Stuart, Fla., following a sudden illness Tuesday.  Rev. Jim Fritz, pastor of the church, and Rev. Thomas Frost, former pastor, will officiate, and burial will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.  Friends may call in the Warner Funeral Home from 7 to 9 p.m. today and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday.

 

Osceola Lodge 742, Free & Accepted Masons, will conduct a memorial service for Weisweaver at 7 p.m. Friday in the funeral home.
