Sister Mary Rose Vincent CSC, 79, of St. Mary’s Convent died at 1 p.m. Tuesday in the convent after a lengthy illness. She was born Mary Allhe Welch on Oct. 8, 1900 in Thorndale, Tex., and entered the Congregation of the Sisters of Holy Cross on July 1, 1922, coming from Austin, Tex.. She was received as a novice on Jan. 6, 1923 and professed her final vows on Aug. 25, 1925.

 

Throughout her community life, she served as an elementary and secondary education teacher, teaching at the former St. Joseph Academy and St. Joseph Grade School, as weel as schools in Illinois and Texas. She lived at St. Mary’s Convent since 1969.

 

Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in the Our Lady of Loretto Church. Internment will be in Our Lady of Peace Cemetery. Friends may call until services in the St. Mary’s Convent Parlors, where a wake will be observed at 7 p.m. today.
