Joseph M. Wensits

Joseph M. Wensits, 79, of Healthwin Specialized Care Facility, formerly of Kaley Street, passed away at 11 p.m. Sunday, March 18, 2001, in the care facility. Mr. Wensits was born on October 28, 1921, in South Bend, IN, and was a lifelong resident. He retired from the Torrington Corporation, and was also employed with the former Studebaker Corporation.

 

On May 10, 1947, in St. Stanislaus Church, he married Lorraine L. Cwidak, who survives. Also surviving are four daughters, Marlene Brown of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Janell (John) Mihay of South Bend, IN, Kristine (Scott) Mitchell of North Liberty, IN, Rebecca (David) Thibodeaux of Mishawaka, IN.; a son, Bruce Wensits of Itasca, IL; two grandsons, Matthew and Tyler Thibodeaux; four sisters, Elizabeth Cutner of South Bend, IN, Ann Fuzy of Texarkana, Arkansas, Mary (Jim) Vlanhantonis of South Bend, IN, Louis (Emil) Firtl of South Bend, IN; a brother, William (Betty) Wensits of Big Bear Lake, MI; a sister-in-law, Joan Wensits of Mishawaka, IN; and by a brother-in-law, Frank Tonk of South Bend. He was preceded in death by three sisters, Julia Wensits, Cecelia Tonk and Rose Kovall; and by a brother, Edward Wensits.

 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, March 22, 2001, in St. Stanislaus Church. Burial will follow in Highland Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 7 p.m. today in Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, where a parish Rosary will be prayed at 4 p.m.

Mr. Wensits was a World War II Air Force veteran, and a member of St. Stanislaus Parish and the Frankie Radics Club.
