Robert I. Wenzel

February 19, 1903September 9, 1982

 

Robert I. Wenzel, 79, of 24150 Riley Road, Lakeville, died at 6:05pm Thursday in his home, after a lengthy illness.  He was a retired farmer.

 

He was born February 19, 1903, in Ridgeway IL and lived in Lakeville for 52 years coming from Illinois.  On April 7, 1937, in Plymouth, he married Irene Houin who survives.  Also surviving are six daughters, Mrs. Bernard (Dolores) Leemrels, Mrs. Randall (Loretta) Chrobot and Mrs. Eugene (Julia) Feagler, all of South Bend, Sister Julianne of St Francis Convent, Mishawaka, and Mis Ruth Ann Wenzel and Miss Virginia Wenzel, both at home; nine sons, Eugene and Arnold, both of Granger, Robert Jr. of Richmond MI, Delenor of Plymouth, DeWayne of Fort Wayne, Steven of Elkhart, Thomas of Lakeville, Leonard of South Bend and Ralph, at home; 27 grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Teresa Keethers of Evansville IN; and a brother, Lawrence of Chesterton.

 

Services will be held at 10am Monday in Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Lakeville, of which he was a member.  Rev. Richard J. Smith, pastor, will officiate.  Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery in Lakeville.

 

Friends may call form 7 to 9pm Saturday and 5 to 8pm Sunday at Guisinger Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in South Bend, where the rosary will be recited at 7pm Sunday.  He was a member of the Holy Name Society of Sacred Heart Church and the AMPI Association.
