Eva F. Werntz

SOUTH BEND - Mrs. Eva F. Werntz, 79, formerly of Mayflower Road, South Bend, Ind., passed away at 5:45 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 26, in Miller's Merry Manor in Walkerton, Ind. Mrs. Werntz was born on April 17, 1919, and was a lifetime resident of the Michiana area.

 

On July 7, 1945, as Eva F. Martin, she married Charles R. Werntz, who survives. She is also survived by three sons, Charles E. Allen of Florence, Ky., Ron M. Werntz of South Bend and Michael D. Werntz of Lakeville, Ind.; four grandchildren, Patrick Brown, Dietrich Werntz, Abbey and Michael Werntz, Jr.; and by four sisters, Ruby Duncan of Florence, Ky., Edith McIntire of Hamer, S. C., Inez Kennedy of Middleburg, Fla., and Beatrice Dove of Gibsonville, N.C. Mrs. Werntz retired in 1986 as a registered nurse, having worked at the former Osteopathic Hospital for many years.

 

Visitation hours will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 29, at the Hanley & Sons ''Southwest Chapel'' Funeral Home, located at West Ireland Road/Indiana 23, South Bend. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 30, in the funeral home. Rev. Charles Richmond of the North Liberty Church of Christ will be officiating. Burial will take place at Sumption Prairie Cemetery. The family request that memorial contributions be made to the charity of donor's choice. The Hanley & Sons ''Southwest Chapel'' Funeral Home handled services and extend heartfelt sympathy to the Werntz family.
