SOUTH BEND - Wayne E. West, 66, of
Meade St., South Bend, Ind., died at 4:15 p.m. Wednesday in the
Methodist Hospital, Indianapolis, Ind. He was born Aug. 5, 1929,
in Mishawaka, Ind., and lived in South Bend, Ind. Mr. West
retired in 1983 from AT&T.
In 1983 in South Bend, Ind., he married
Betty Eli, who survives; one son, Doug Olmstead of
California; two daughters, Kathleen Eli and Rebecca Kamp,
both of South Bend, Ind.; two brothers, Robert West and Fred
Blain, both of Mishawaka, Ind.; three sisters, Virginia Slaughter
of Pennsylvania, Sara Hunt and Lois Iden, both of
Mishawaka, Ind.; and two grandchildren, Doug Olmstead of
California and Stephanie Olmstead of Mishawaka, Ind.
Mr. West was a World War II veteran serving
with the U.S. Air Force. He was a member of the American Legion
Pulaski Post No. 357, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 9820, the
Pioneers Telephone Co. and an officer of the Anchor Conservation
Club.
Friends may call from 2 until 8 p.m. today
at the St. Joseph Funeral Home, 824 S. Mayflower Road, South
Bend, Ind. Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the St. Joseph
Funeral Home. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery.
