Services for Rev. Edward H. Wetzel CSC, 85, who died Saturday at Holy Cross House, will be at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday at Sacred Heart Church on the campus of the University of Notre Dame. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery. Friends may call today in Moreau Seminary, where a wake will be at 7:30 p.m. 

Rev. Wetzel was born April 7, 1902 in New Orleans, La. And attended Sacred Heart Parish School there, before entering the Holy Cross Seminary here in 1916. He was ordained June 24, 1929, and was assigned to foreign mission territory in Bengal, India (now Bangladesh), where he ministered for 30 years. After returning to the United States, he served with the Brothers of Holy Cross in Dujare Hall from 1959 to 1961; Columba Hall from 1961 to 1962; Gibault School for Boys from 1963 to 1966; Reitz Memorial Hospital in Evansville, Ind. from 1969 to 1971; Basil Moreau House, New Orleans from 1971 to 1973; and Holy Cross School, New Orleans from 1974 to 1981. While serving in New Orleans he became an active member of the Chrismatic Renewal. He has resided at Holy Cross Father’s Medical Facility since1981.
