Sister Mary Cocillio CSC, 81, died Friday night in St. Mary’s Convent, where she had lived since 1964. She was born July 19, 1889 in Davenport, Iowa, and entered the Congregation of the Sisters of the Holy Cross on June 29, 1908. She was received as a novice Dec. 10, 1909 and professed her vows Aug. 15, 1911. She served as a teacher at St. Joseph Academy and St. Joseph High School in South Bend; St. Edward’s Hall at Notre Dame, and St. Mary’s Junior College at St. Mary’s. She also taught in LaPorte, Hammond, and Michigan; and in Illinois, California, and Washington DC. She came to Holy Cross Convent in South Bend in 1963, before going to St. Mary’s Convent

 

Friends may call until services at the convent parlors, where a rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. today. Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in the  Church of Our Lady of Loretto, with burial in Our Lady of Peace Cemetery, both on the St. Mary’s College campus.
