SOUTH BEND - Eloise E. Whitehair, 87, of 1230 Fairington Circle, formerly of Muncie, Ind., died Saturday afternoon in Memorial Hospital. She was born Jan. 5, 1907, in Carlisle, Ky., moving to Muncie and then to South Bend.

On June 12, 1927, she married Marvin Spencer Whitehair. He died in 1980. In February 1982, she married Ralph Carter. He died in November 1982. Surviving are two daughters, Eleanor Sorrell of Yorktown, Ind., and Glenda Hewitt of South Bend; a stepdaughter, Alice Carter of Connecticut; a stepson, Philip Carter of Connecticut; 10 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; and a step-granddaughter.

She was a member of South Bend First Baptist Church and a 54-year member of the Epsilon Sigma Alpha International Sorority.

Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. March 5 in the church. Meek Mortuary Inc., Muncie, Ind., is in charge of arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to the church.
