Raymond White

Oct. 30, 1922 - Dec. 16, 2001

Raymond W. White, 79, died from a sudden illness on Sunday, Dec. 16, in South West Regional Medical Center, Fort Myers, Fla.

He was born on Oct. 30, 1922, in Berkley, Calif., as the son of the late Arthur F. and Irene (Leek) White.

Raymond is survived by his wife of 57 years, Earline F. (Forrester) White. He is also survived by five daughters, Sandra L. (Donald) Mikesell of Osceola, Ind., Susan Morris (Roy) Zimmerman of Orlando, Fla., Lisa R. (Raymond) Bennett of Granger, Ind., Jesse N. White of Ashland, Ore., and D. Anne (Christopher) Jones of Crown Point, Ind. He had 10 grandchildren, Jerry L. Neff Jr., Rhonda L. Miller, Keith A. Morris, Amanda C. Yeakey, Allison G. Bennett, Ryan, Leah, Brooke, Nicholas and Sean Jones; three great-grandsons, Justin L. Neff, Jordan and Blake Miller; and by two brothers, Donald R. White of Englewood, Fla., and Arthur F. White of Mobile, Ala.

Ray was a graduate of Virginia Polytechnic Institute and was a captain in the United States Army during World War II and the Korean War. He was employed by the New York Central Railroad, New York Life Insurance Company and Interstate Glass before becoming a real estate broker and a partner with Time Reality. He was a past president of the South Bend-Mishawaka Board of Realtors and was chosen Realtor of the Year.

He retired from the sale of real estate in 1984 and made his home at Garver Lake in Edwardsburg, Mich., and Estero, Fla.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 19, in Estero. A memorial service will be held in the South Bend area at a later date.

The Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th Street, Mishawaka, is handling the arrangements.

The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to Alcoholics Anonymous.
