Sister Augustine Marie CSC, 70, of St, Mary’s Convent died there Sunday evening after a lengthy illness. Born Oct. 14, 1905 in Big Rock Iowa as Agnes White, she entered the Congregation of the Sisters of the Holy Cross at St. Mary’s on July 6, 1928. She was received as a novice on Jan. 6, 1929 and professed her vows in Jan. 6, 1931. In 1935 she served in missions abroad in Dacca Bengal, India, now Bengladesh, where she taught in secondary schools and Holy Cross College there until 1975. From 1930 to 1935 she taught in Hammond. She held a bachelors degree from Mount St. Joseph College in Dubuque, Iowa and a masters degree from Loyola Unbiversity in New Orleans.

 

Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday in Our Lady of Loretto Church with burial to follow in Our Lady of Peace Cemetery on the campus. Friends may call today and until services in the convent parlors, where a rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. today.
