Robert J. Whitney

July 12, 1927 - Feb. 15, 2000

NILES — Robert J. Whitney, 72, of 525 Ironwood Drive, died the morning of Tuesday, Feb. 15 in Sun City, Arizona, of natural causes.

Mr. Whitney retired from Bendix/Allied Signal in 1981. He was active in bowling and golfing leagues in the area and was a member of the Knights of Columbus.

He was born on July 12, 1927 in Perkins, Mich. On June 24, 1950, he married Marilyn Ahrens in Waukegan, Ill. She passed away nearly five years ago. He remarried LaVerne Cramond in 1997. He is survived by his wife, LaVerne; two daughters, Mary Tuohy of Granger and Michele Domadia of Lewisville, N.C.; seven sons, David of Austin, Texas, Robert of Raleigh, N.C., Gary of Niles, Jeffrey of Atlanta, Ga., James of Helotes, Texas, Steven of South Bend and Christopher of Niles; three stepdaughters, Terry of Nevada City, Calif., April of Leadville, Colo., and Judy of Naples, Fla.; 28 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; his sisters, Mary Fedrow of Waukegan, Ill., and Muriel Cecconi of Lake Havasu City, Ariz.; and by a brother, Byron of Austin, Texas.

Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 19 at St. Mary's of Niles. Memorial contributions may be made to Habitat for Humanity International at 121 Habitat St., Americus, Ga. 31709-3498.
