John M. Wilcox

September 16, 1902June 18, 1973

 

John M. Wilcox, 70, of 212 N Lafayette St., North Liberty, died at 11:20pm Monday in Memorial Hospital, after a brief illness.  He was a former conductor for the Wabash Railroad, having worked there 22 years, and also was the cofounder of the Wilcox Bros. Packing Co., North Liberty, retiring in 1968.

 

He was born September 16, 1902, in St Joseph County, and had lived in the area all his life.  On September 3, 1928, in Franklin, he married Magdalen Curran, who survives.  Also surviving are two sons, John C., of North Liberty and Wayne A of London, England; seven grandchildren; a brother, Roy of North Liberty and three sisters, Mrs. Clyde Colburn of El Paso IL; Mrs. Ralph Bobson of Mishawaka and Mrs. Wayne Cover of Walkerton.

 

Friends may cal form 2 to 4 and 7 to9pm Wednesday and Thursday at the A. M. Manuel Funeral Home, North Liberty.  Services will be held at 2pmFriday at the United Methodist Church, North Liberty, with Rev. Robert Wilbank, pastor, officiating.  Burial will be in Eastlawn Cemetery, North Liberty.  Mr. Wilcox was a former member of the North Liberty Town Board.  Memorials may be given to the St Joseph County Cancer Society.
