Charles Paul Williams

MISHAWAKA - Charles "Chuck" Paul Williams, 80, of Mishawaka, passed away Sunday evening, May 18, 2008, in Elkhart General Hospital. Chuck was born July 25, 1927, in Mishawaka, a son of the late L.D. and Henrietta (VanHosebeke) Williams. He lived the majority of his life in Mishawaka. Chuck served his country from 1945 to 1946 in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was employed for 20 years as a police officer with the Mishawaka Police Department and for two years as an assistant chief with the St. Joseph County Police.

 

Chuck married Martha Jane "Marty" Kuminecz on September 16, 1950, in South Bend. She preceded him in death in 1993. Chuck's surviving family includes his two daughters, Sandy (Jerry) Weatherford of Oxford, Alabama, and Sherry (Craig) Goralski of Mishawaka; his two sisters, Marie Vernasco of Mishawaka and Nancy (Richard) DeWulf of Naples, Florida; and five grandchildren, Jeremy Weatherford, Jill Weatherford, Jessica Gnoth, Samantha Gnoth and Craig Goralski, Jr.

 

Graveside services will be held today (Wednesday) at 11 a.m. in Fairview Cemetery, Mishawaka. Military honors will be provided by the VFW #360/American Legion #161 Burial Squad. Contributions in Chuck's memory may be made to the American Cancer Society. Arrangements are being handled by the Thallemer, Goethals & Wells Funeral Home, Mishawaka.
