Sister Mary Arthur CSC, 98, died Thursday evening in St. Mary’s Convent, after a critical illness. She was born Ella Catherine Williams, entered the Sisters of the Holy Cross in 1905, received the habit the same year, and made her profession of vows in 1910. She began her teaching career in San Francisco, and spent a few years in Texas. The greater part of her long career was spent in South Bend, Valparaiso, Anderson, Hammond, and in Illinois. Prior to her retirement she had been assigned to Holy Cross Convent at Notre Dame.

 

A requiem mass will be at 7 a.m. Saturday in the Church of Our Lady of Loretto at St. Mary’s and burial will be in Our Lady of Peace Cemetery. Friends may call at the conven parlor.
